Quality Assurance Engineer

Full Time • Hybrid - US
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases and test scripts.
  • Perform functional, regression, API, performance, integration, and exploratory testing.
  • Develop automated tests using Playwright, TypeScript, Java, k6, MCP, AI-assisted testing, and other applicable technologies.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into detailed, efficient, and comprehensive test scenarios and test cases.
  • Design and maintain reusable, scalable automation frameworks using data-driven, keyword-driven, hybrid, and BDD approaches.
  • Integrate automated testing with Git, CI/CD pipelines, test management platforms, and other development tools.
  • Use browser developer tools, application logs, HTTP requests/responses, stack traces, heap dumps, and other diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot defects.
  • Analyze defects, determine root causes, provide detailed technical information to developers, and track issues through resolution.
  • Identify quality risks early in the software development lifecycle and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Design realistic performance testing scenarios, including user journeys, data parameterization, load models, and performance metrics.
  • Execute predefined test cases while also conducting unscripted exploratory testing.
  • Apply testing techniques such as boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, and risk-based testing.
  • Work with relational and NoSQL databases to validate application data and test results.
  • Analyze and profile production data to support test data creation and validation.
  • Work with test data management and data governance platforms.
  • Use tools such as Zephyr Scale, GitLab, and similar platforms for test management, defect tracking, and progress reporting.
  • Identify bottlenecks, waste, process variations, and potential quality issues, and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes, automation frameworks, tools, and testing strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, system personnel, business stakeholders, and management.
  • Participate in meetings, training, Agile/Scrum ceremonies, and other team activities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of relevant QA/automated testing experience; OR
  • Three (3) years of experience as a Business Analyst or Software Engineer within the Colorado Judicial Department.
  • Additional relevant work experience may substitute for formal education on a year-for-year basis.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Strong understanding of manual and automated testing principles.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright, TypeScript, Java, k6, or similar automation and performance-testing technologies.
  • Strong understanding of test automation framework architecture and reusable framework design.
  • Experience with API testing, performance testing, regression testing, and functional testing.
  • Knowledge of QA standards, testing methodologies, and industry best practices.
  • Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with version control and CI/CD environments.
  • Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with defect management and test management tools.
  • Strong understanding of defect lifecycles and software development methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and quality risks early in the development lifecycle.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, analyze data, and adjust testing strategies when needed.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to software quality.
  • Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
